I’ve Got a Dirty Little Secret

I’ll get to the point and let you in on a dirty little secret.

If you’re ever going to be successful, at some point along the way, you are going to be scared shitless.

I know… it sounds crass… AND it’s still true.

You do not get to the top by whistling Dixie, making easy decisions and keeping your shoes clean.

At some point you will:

  • take an enormous leap when you can’t see where you will land
  • say no when you crave to “settle” and say yes
  • walk away from good because it’s not great
  • take a helluva risk because you have faith in moving forward and no tolerance for sliding backward… but you still look over your shoulder… [one eye slightly cringed shut] just to be sure you aren’t slip sliding away. (Thank you, Paul Simon.)

And as soon as you make this scary decision, your heart will beat faster, your inner critic will start shouting, “Are you crazy?!” and you’re going to feel a little sick to your stomach.

Congratulations! Welcome to the club!

Remember, feeling a little scared is the first symptom of a MUCH bigger, bolder, brighter future.

Hugs,
AmyK
